Make Your Own Pack Basket, No Experience Necessary

Build your traditional, functional pack basket.
In this weekend course, you’ll learn how to set up and weave a traditional pack basket out of reed. You’ll learn about basket molds, different ways to put skids on the basket, the weaving process, how to put on a functional rim, and lots of lore about pack baskets we’ve picked up over the years.
All materials and tools will be provided.

- Note: due to time constraints, we will not be making harnesses, but we will provide you with ideas for making your own, as well as places to purchase.
Group size is limited to 4 people. Included with the course is 2 nights of lodging (Friday and Saturday) in our lodge, the Rust Pond Retreat. Food is not included, but the lodge is outfitted with a full modern kitchen. Tuition is $250. Bring your own snowshoes or borrow a pair of ours.
Arrival and Departure: Plan to arrive Friday evening, between 6 and 9. The course is over on Sunday at 2 PM.
Tobacco: Smoking is not permitted in or near any buildings. All cigarette butts are to be placed into the metal can provided.
Vehicles and Parking: We’re located 1.2 miles down a dirt road. Depending on your vehicle you may need to park at the top of the hill, a 75 yard walk.
